FAQ - How Proffing Works

For Instructors

As much as you can! Remember, you want to make it as easy as possible for schools to understand what your skills and interests are, so they can match you with opportunities they may have available.

Also, consider proposing a specific course that you’d love to teach, whether or not it’s a course you’ve taught (or that anyone has taught). Schools are always looking for new ideas for courses, especially new ideas from people who understand well what skills are needed in today’s workplace.

Great question! These are two very different images. The “Personal Photo” is meant to be a portrait-type shot which you might have, for example, as your profile photo in other social media platform. The “Banner Photo,” on the other hand, sits along the top of your CV profile page. While it’s not required, we suggest you consider adding one to your page. It looks great and allows you to say something about yourself.

Technically, no. The site is currently set up to allow only registered schools and their representatives to search profiles.

Having said that, of course, oftentimes these representatives are, themselves, instructors. So, in some cases, there may be individuals who, over time, will sit in both roles, as instructor and school representative.

As of now, this is a free service, for both instructors and schools.

We’re slowly ramping up this site, making sure we get the details right first. We do “backfill” listings by pulling opportunities from other sites, but these also may be fragmented and somewhat thin in some areas.

We agree! There should be more. Please spread the word about Proffing! And, please let us know if there are schools that would be a good fit for Proffing and could benefit from connecting with instructors through the site.

Please let us know (info@proffing.com) and we’ll change it ASAP.

For Schools

Right now, we provide to schools the opportunity to search through millions (ok, maybe not yet) of profiles of prospective part-time instructors and guest speakers in their area. We also allow for (free!) listing of teaching and speaking opportunities that these same instructors can search through themselves.

All of this is, for now, entirely free of charge.

Of course., we hope to expand these services to include more value-added offering for schools. Let us know what you think the site is missing right now and what would help you to connect with more and better instructors and speakers n your area.

Nope. Right now, these services are all free of charge.

Great question. The idea is to give you the opportunity to make the listing as visually appealing as possible. While the school logo will be identical across all of your listings (and is set up when you list your first teaching opportunity), the banner image can vary from opportunity to opportunity. The banner will sit across the top 20-25% of the screen when an instructor views your listing so, while it’s not required, we urge you to include one.

Have a Question?

Please let us know if you have any questions at all.

Found a bug?

We hope not! However, if you run into any problems at all on the site, please let us know as soon as possible, so we can get it fixed.

Have a suggestion?

Of course, we’re just launching the site and are excited to see what instructors and schools think about our offerings. If you think we can improve any aspect of the platform, please don’t hesitate to let us know.
